Retaking a certification exam

My employer provided a pre-paid certificate for me to take a certification exam, but I didn't pass it due to the difficulty level. Now I want to reschedule the exam for a later date, but it keeps asking me to pay for it even though it should be paid for already. Can someone explain why I have to pay for a retake?

    Hi Kevin

Basically, in most cases if you fail an exam, you need to pay again to take the exam again. In some cases, if the certification you failed, are of Fundamentals, like AZ900, AI900 or other relevant, you can attend a free live event and earn a free voucher. At least that was the case a few months ago.

If the certification you failed is of Associate level then i think you are obliged to pay again, to retake the exam.

Feel free to check the live events of Fundamentals is this is what interests you, in the link below

This was the method i used to retake exams, through watching these virtual events. I hope watching these events still offers a voucher, but you have to look up to it, because i don't know if this is still valid.
