When creating a new calendar entry in outlook the entry defaults to a recurring event. How do I turn that off so that the default is a one time event?

I have a problem where I create a one time calendar entry and then at some point later it is automatically converted to a weekly recurring event. How do I fix this problem? BTW - I am aware that I can manually go in and change that entry back to a one-time event. I'm looking for a solution such that Outlook does note keep making entries recurring on it's own.

I'm using the local version of outlook (version 2312) and I have access to outlook online in a web browser as well.

Changing Default Calendar Entry Type in Outlook: By default, Outlook often remembers the last type of calendar entry you created. However, you can change the default to create one-time events. Please follow these steps: Open Outlook. Click on the "File" tab in the top left corner. Select "Options" at the bottom of the navigation pane. In the Outlook Options dialog box, click on "Calendar" in the left pane. Scroll down to the "Calendar options" section. Find the "Default reminders" section and change the "Default reminders" dropdown to "None." Close the Outlook Options dialog box.

Now, when you create a new calendar entry, it should default to a one-time event. Preventing Automatic Conversion to Recurring Events: To prevent Outlook from automatically converting one-time events to recurring events, follow these steps: When creating a new calendar entry, make sure the "Recurrence" button in the Ribbon is set to "None." After entering the details for your one-time event, click "Save & Close." Additionally, ensure that no rules or macros are set up to automatically modify your calendar entries. Check your Outlook rules and macros for any that might affect calendar items.

Outlook Online (Web Browser): If you are using Outlook online in a web browser: Open your browser and go to Outlook Online. Create a new calendar event, ensuring that the recurrence is set to "None." If the issue persists, try using a different browser or clearing the cache.

Additional Tips: Keep your Outlook client and browser up to date to ensure you have the latest features and bug fixes. Check for any third-party plugins or add-ins that might be influencing Outlook behavior.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, you may want to consider reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance.
