The Azure AZ-305 exam is one of the two exams required to earn the Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification. The other exam is AZ-104: Microsoft Azure Administrator.

The AZ-305 exam does not have any official pre-requisites, meaning you can take it without passing any other exam first. However, even if you pass the AZ-305 exam, you will not earn the certification until you also pass the AZ-104 exam. Therefore, it is recommended that you take the AZ-104 exam before the AZ-305 exam, as it covers the basic Azure administration skills that are necessary for the AZ-305 exam.

    Hello @CAMASAMUDRAM, KIRANMAYEE

Yes, the AZ-305 exam is for the Azure Solutions Architect. This exam measures your ability to design identity, governance, and monitoring solutions; design data storage solutions; design business continuity solutions; and design infrastructure solutions.

As a candidate for this exam, you should have advanced experience and knowledge of IT operations, including networking, virtualization, identity, security, business continuity, disaster recovery, data platforms, and governance. You should manage how decisions in each area affect an overall solution. In addition, you should have experience with Azure administration, Azure development, and DevOps processes.

Regarding the prerequisites, even though you may take the AZ-305 exam without any prerequisites, you will not earn the certification until you also obtain the Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (AZ-104)

Typically, people pass the prerequisite AZ-104 exam first and then take the AZ-305.

So, it’s recommended to earn the Azure Administrator Associate certification first by passing the AZ-104 exam. I hope this answers your question.
