Windows Server : What happens if I finish drive letters? (they are 26)

In Windows Server, if you run out of the 26 alphabetical drive letters, you can still mount additional drives. Instead of assigning a new drive letter, you can mount the new drives to a folder on an existing volume. This is known as using Volume Mount Points or mounting drives in folders.

Here’s how it works:

Open Disk Management with administrator permissions.

Right-click the volume where you want to mount the new drive and select Change Drive Letter and Paths.

To mount the drive in a folder, select Add and then Mount in the following empty NTFS folder.

Choose an existing folder or create a new one to act as the mount point for the new drive.

This method allows you to bypass the limitation of the 26 drive letters and effectively manage more drives than the available letters. As if it were a subdirectory on the parent drive.
