Hyper-v Server on HP Proliant DL360e Gen8 with B320i controller

Hello everyone,

Due to the recent change in the VMware company (bought by Broadcom) and the end of the free licence, my ESXI 5.5 is no longer working properly. Without a free licence, it is impossible to start a VM so, it's complicated to run and experiment on different labs. So I need an alternative and Hyper-v Server seems to be the good choice.

I'm having trouble installing the Hyper-V Server on my HP Proliant DL360e Gen8 with the B320i proprietary RAID controller. When I try to select the disk where the hypervisor will be installed, my RAID drive is not showing up. I think it's because the Hyper-V doesn't have the proper driver to handle the B320i controller. I've tried looking for solutions all day, but haven't found anything that works. Does anyone have any leads on how to solve this issue?

Best, Max

    Hi Max,

If Hyper-V Server does not come with the driver for the B320i RAID controller, you may need to contact HP or download the Windows driver for the RAID controller from the HP site, then click "Load driver" to install the driver manually in Windows Setup.
