What is happening with the multipoint technology

What is happening with the multipoint technology at the moment, all the documentation on the topic is outdated and nothing of it could be reproduced. In particular,
I tried to start services in windows 10 to be able to connect 2 pairs of hardware to 1 computer. Nothing of the documents described in the outdated documentation work.

this is honestly really bizzarely stupid.

you'd think multipoint hosting would be an obvious feature for windows home.

lintegrated graphics + a graphics card or 2 and your last 3 computers are now all as good as your new computer if ya'll huddle in the computer den.

multiseat is an amazing feature. maybe it will come to windows 12 because everyone knows windows 10 was greeat so windows 11 has to be terrible, and with them throwing away their core audience - LEGACY PC - well you'll have to justify people upgrade from their day1 builds of windows 10 with some pretty epic upsell.

being able to plug my win98se monitor, my xp monitor, my wind7 monitor AND my win10 monitor into my win12 PC WOULD BE PRETTY AWESOME!!!!

but if m$ is already depreciating awesome features before wider release we gotta start to wonder why m$ be nerfing their own products when somethign like this coudl revitalize the PC's relevance in the average home. gaming and productivity aside, a real PC is a non insubsantial investment of most folk, being able to make that $2k PC really function as the computing hub of low socioeconomic status family who may have owned a couple of PCs over the past 20 years.

not to mention the third world and 2nd world, multiseat and is nobrainer. like CrossPlaySplitScreen is for gaming. anything less at this point truly is a deliberate artificial limitation designed to pad the bottom line

multiseat isn't a server feature. multiseat is an 80s technology. with a phone in everyone's pocket, what's stopping you microsoft?

Microsoft is no longer developing the MultiPoint Services role as part of Windows Server. MultiPoint Connector services are available through Feature on Demand for both Windows Server and Windows 10. You can use Remote Desktop Services, in particular the Remote Desktop Services Session Host, to provide RDP connectivity.

Do I understand correctly, for this function to work (2 users from one Windows 10 PC with separate monitors) can only work if the multipoint connector is connected to windows server with the multipoint service installed. Can't run this function without a separate server? It's just that in this case it is extremely illogical and makes the whole concept meaningless.

That's correct, you'll need a Windows Server with the MultiPoint service role installed.

As Leon shared, the Multipoint Service removal was announced at 1803 release.
