This is actually tied to the Host Pool configuration setting "Preferred app group type". This prioritizes the group type you want to take precedence if a user is assigned to both a desktop and a RemoteApp group. If you don't assign this, it shows both, but then you can have issues with apps colliding with desktops for users. I found this out the hard way when I set this setting after using both in a test environment and searched for it, finding this post amongst others. Figured clarification here would help someone out in the future.
Published applications not showing up, AVD
I have published a couple apps on a lab but they are not showing on the remote desktop client or under the web gateway.
I have tried to recreate the workspace and application group to no avail, I have confirmed the assignments are correct, and if I search for the users I can confirm that the individual assignments show the application group.
Any idea why this isn't working?
TIA

It looks like you can publish remote apps and desktops under the same host group but if you assign them both to a user only the desktop shows up.
When I created the Host Group the desktop is automatically published then when I created a Application group to publish e.g. Access and I couldn't list it on the web gateway or the Remote Desktop Client.
Once I removed the Desktop assignment from my test user I could see and launch the Apps.

2024-10-16T13:44:50.2566667+00:00 It is about "Preferred app group type". If an end user has both RemoteApp and Desktop apps published to them on this host pool they will only see the selected app type in their feed. The default preferred application group type selected using the Azure portal is Desktop. You can change this setting when you create the host pool or after the host pool is created from the properties. Shortly when you changed the "Preferred app group type" to "RemoteApp" the apps will be shown in the feed.
