First time I work with exchange online, where I need to migrate a user account that today has a IMAP account. So overall I just look for best practise. Overall I need to change the MX record to point to Exchange online.  Then I need to migrate the imap information to exchange online - what is the best to do ?. Is it possible to migrate all contacts also ?

Hi,@FarazI995

Thanks for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

According to your description, you are doing an IMAP migration. You seem to be missing the official documentation to guide you.

For what you need to know about migrating IMAP mailboxes to Microsoft 365 or Office 365, you can refer to this link:https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/exchange/mailbox-migration/migrating-imap-mailboxes/migrating-imap-mailboxes?source=recommendations

Regarding your question “Is it possible to migrate all contacts?” according to the official documentation, IMAP migration does not migrate contacts, calendar items or tasks.
