On the new ribbon bar on the far right is the more (...) menu. At the bottom of that menu is Customize where you can customize the ribbon bar.
Note that this doesn't work with the "classic" ribbon. But I don't see that as an option anymore anyway.

How do I customize the ribbon in the new version of Outlook. For example, if I want to remove 'Quick steps' from the ribbon, how do I remove this option?

Adding an extra set for non-savvy users makes it so difficult.

Just saying. There is quite a lot of customizing you can do, as long as you stay in the new so-called "simplified" ribbon - but if you prefer the "classic" ribbon, you seem to be simply out of luck, and no longer of Microsoft's concern, or target audience.

All I want to do is move a couple items leftwards.

The ability to customize the ribbon is one of them. Thanks to this thread for confirmation the functionality to customize the classic ribbon is gone and not that I simply can't find it. The choices of icons and customization was so helpful.
My adventure today started because I was trying to find the icon related to this feature:
For the record, I don't see that feature available to me in my Enterprise login.

2024-03-20T15:23:52+00:00 Click on the down arrow to the far right of your screen. Select 'Simplified ribbon'. Once you select 'Simplified ribbon', you will see the ellipsis (three dots). Click on the ellipsis and you will see additional options.
