I was working on Visual Studio Code (VS Code) and made some commits and updates. Then I had some urgent work, so I went to the Start menu on my Windows 11 -> Power Button -> Shutdown.

I accidentally shut down the laptop. After a couple of hours, I restarted my laptop and wanted to continue my work. However, this time, VS Code was missing. I restarted a few times and checked through the Command Prompt, but it seems VS Code was deleted from my laptop.
I was thinking that some virus got inside my system. But, I had diagnose by windows 11 option virus and thread -> Full Scan which take very much time . But Eventually no virus found . Now what should I do ?Screenshot 2024-11-12 082816

    Hi @Mirza Zain,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A!

It seems be a known issue with Visual Studio Code, you can see the similar issue:

VS Code was lost on shutdown with pending update · Issue #52855 · microsoft/vscode

It could be resolved by reinstalling VS Code. You can have a try.

If it doesn’t work, I recommend you report it in dedicated GitHub-vscode forum where you would get support for this product. Thanks for your understanding.

    Sincerely,

    Anna
