Report Builder (.rdl file): Custom fonts (Montserrat) not working in PDF exports from Power BI Service

I'm developing an .rdl report in Power BI Report Builder (not SSRS) that uses the Montserrat font. The font displays correctly when I export the PDF on my local machine where the font is installed, and appears correctly in the exported PDF. However, when the report is generated and exported to PDF from the Power BI service, it gets replaced with a default font.

I've tried:

  • Modifying the .rdl file directly to add the EmbeddedFonts section (Opening it as an XML file in VS Code)

Looking for options in Report Properties

Installing the font locally

Is there a way to embed the font directly in the .rdl report so it works when exported to PDF from the Power BI service?

Technical details:

  • Using Report Builder Software

Report is in .rdl format

The font I want to embed is Montserrat

Report needs to be automatically generated and exported to PDF by Power BI service

Thanks for your help!
