Outlook popout windows always small

When I get a new email, I double click it to open a pop up window to read the email, the window is small. I then resize/maximize the window to read it better.

When I click new email, a pop up window pops up that is mall. I then resize/maximize the window to make it easier to type a new email.

This action gets repeated each time I open/compose a new email. This is tedious to do.

I have the same on my house PC, work laptop and of course colleagues running Outlook.

I always have my windows maximized when closing, yet any new window in Outlook that gets opened is small.

Any idea what else can be done? I can't find a setting and Outlook does not seem to "cache" window size.

    Hi @Johan Groenewald

    Welcome to our forum!

It seems that the issue occurs on New Outlook client. Based on my research, i reproduce your issue, this seems to be the default setting for New Outlook, i.e. even if you have resized the pop-up before, after you close the pop-up, the size that opens it again will always be the same size. Maybe it is a good idea to switch back to the classic version, as it could remember your custom pop-up settings.

    Hello Johan,

I understand that this can be frustrating. Here are a few steps you can try to resolve the issue with the window size in Outlook:

Resize and Close with CTRL: Open a new email, resize the window to your desired size, then hold down the CTRL key while clicking the X to close the window. This should force Outlook to remember the window size and position.

Reset Window Size: Close Outlook, then hold down the CTRL key while clicking the Outlook icon to open it again. Keep holding the CTRL key until you see a prompt asking if you want to start Outlook in safe mode. Click "Yes" to start Outlook in safe mode, then close it again. When you open Outlook normally, the window size should be reset.

Adjust Windows Display Settings: Go to Windows display settings and adjust the scaling and layout. You can try changing the size of text, apps, and other items to see if this helps resolve the issue.

Check Zoom Settings in Outlook: Open Outlook and go to any email. Use Ctrl + Scroll up on your mouse or touchpad to increase the zoom level in the email reading pane.

If these solutions don't work, it might be helpful to check for Outlook updates or contact technical support for further assistance.

Feel free to let me know if you need more help or have any other questions !

This was awesome thank you! Resize and Close with CTRL worked for me. This had been annoying me for months.
