Dear Team,

I have inadvertently activated Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on my Azure subscription. This account is personal and registered with my email address (Removed to protect personal data). Since enabling MFA, I have been unable to access the Azure portal as I did not set up my phone for this authentication method. Additionally, I have not created any users on the portal for sign-in purposes. I kindly request your assistance in removing MFA from my subscription.

Hi @Karthick V • Thank you for reaching out.

I understand you are having issues with logging into your Azure subscription after locking yourself out due to activation of MFA.

With a personal account usually it gets added to the subscription as an external user, meaning there is normally another global admin user internal to the tenant that can be used to remove the MFA requirement and method temporarily from your personal account, if this is available I highly suggest you utilize that method.

If you are the only global admin on the account and are blocked entirely, you can reach out to our support team to resolve the issue. Since this is a locked-out scenario and you aren't able to login, I'd recommend reaching out to our Global Customer Service team, or you can contact the Azure Data Protection team for further assistance - (866-807-5850).

If this is your Azure AD account and there is no one to let you back in, you can follow the steps to unblock yourself if you have SSPR enabled.

For future reference, I'd also recommend creating and managing an emergency access accountin Azure AD. This account will help prevent being accidentally locked out of your Azure Active Directory (Azure AD) teannt because you can't sign in for any reason.

Do let me know if that helps or have any other queries.
