AFAIK, Tiny11 is an unofficial, stripped-down version of Windows 11 designed to run on older or less powerful hardware. It has gained popularity because it removes many of the resource-intensive features and components of the standard Windows 11 installation. Tiny11 requires only 8 GB of storage and 2 GB of RAM, compared to the 20+ GB and higher memory needs of the full version. Additionally, it bypasses strict system requirements like the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) and Secure Boot, which are barriers for many older devices.
The streamlined nature of Tiny11 also includes only essential tools such as Calculator, Notepad, Paint, and Windows Terminal. Unlike standard Windows 11, Tiny11 does not include Microsoft Edge, allowing users to install their preferred browser without being prompted to use Edge. It supports offline accounts by default, offering more flexibility compared to the default online account requirement of Windows 11.
Its popularity stems from its compatibility with older PCs and its ability to run efficiently on devices that would otherwise struggle with Windows 11. This makes it particularly appealing for users with older hardware who want the Windows 11 experience without the performance trade-offs caused by unnecessary components or heavy system requirements
Note that Tiny11 is not officially supported by Microsoft. In addition, as with any modified operating system, there are potential security risks and limitations in terms of updates and support. Finally, a valid Windows activation key is still required to use Tiny11 (from the legal standpoint)
