All Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2021 (2021 MSO (Version 2405 Build 16.0.17628.20006) 32-bit) Apps Do Not Update:

Observation Summary: I cannot delete Office nor modify nor repair, nor update Office.

I had a similar problem perhaps 15 years ago with Microsoft Visual Studio Professional. At that time, I had expensive maintenance service on Visual Studio. With this service I gave the MS Technician permission to remotely enter my system and he messed around for an hour with my files and Visual Studio. As a hell marry, he inspected pertinent Registry Entries and found a questionable registry file. He deleted and replaced the entries with his own computers Registry entry and all was well. This may be the same issue.

I must confess to the use of Registry First Aid ( https://www.registry-first-aid.com/ ) and DiskMax (x64) ( https://www.koshyjohn.com/software/diskmax/ ). Are these possible root causes of messed up Registry????

Initial Problem Statement: Upon manual initiation of update request > Applications (Excel, Word, Access, etc.) > Update Options > Update Now >Update Error code: 30015-28 (2147942487). Solutions tried but did not work:

  1. Tried Uninstall = Settings > Apps > MS Office Professional Plus 2021 - en -us > Uninstall > Error Code 30015-25 (2147942487)
  2. Tried Modify = Settings > Apps > MS Office Professional Plus 2021 - en -us > Modify > Error Code 30015-25 (2147942487)
  3. I tried to install Office over existing product, but it did not work. Run install on ProPlus2021Retial.img > Error Code: 30015-25 (2147942487) > Error Code: 0-2331 (17002)
  4. Microsoft Support and Recovery Assistant > no help
  5. SetupProd_OffScub.exe > Could not install > Error Code 0-2031 (17002)

    Hi @Terrence McMillan

Most of the error codes you shared are related to Office installation problems and action permissions. It cannot be ruled out that third-party software has modified the registry, the corrupted Registry Entries cause this issue.

Since the Q&A forum doesn't offer remote service, it can be difficult to pinpoint the root cause. My suggestion is to see if you can completely uninstall Office and reinstall it.

You may try to manually uninstall Office. But removing Office manually is a long, complex process and might require that you reinstall the operating system if certain steps are done incorrectly.

Besides, please try to check for System File Corruption:

    • Open CMD command prompt as administrator, enter the command: Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /scanhealth Dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth
    • After the operation is completed, enter again:
        `sfc /scannow`

If the above commands do not work, it is recommended to create a new local administrator account and then uninstall it in this new Windows account.

I completed the Office removal and then reinstalled Office. All is well. I used the methods contained is this article: https://digudc.wordpress.com/2018/06/21/manually-uninstall-office/ This article was for Office 2016, I had to improvise in part to adapt to Office 2021.

Looks like the information in the second link is more specific and perhaps shorter: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/users/na/?userid=b5214f30-fe2d-4a91-a6f3-f81f42a30004
