Is there any possibility for Microsoft to add the Intel i7-4790 3.6GHz CPU to the list of compatible CPUs for Windows 11? Thank you.

    Hello Gerald Broaddrick,

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Microsoft has not indicated any plans to expand the official list of supported CPUs for Windows 11, and it’s highly unlikely that older chips like the Intel i7-4790 (a Haswell CPU) will be added. Windows 11’s hardware requirements were designed with specific security features in mind (including TPM 2.0, Secure Boot, and CPU features like virtualization-based security) that were more commonly available in later-generation processors.

I am sorry, based on current policies and the technical requirements of Windows 11, it’s very unlikely that Microsoft will expand the list of supported CPUs to include the i7-4790 in the foreseeable future.

I hope the information above is helpful.

    Best Regards,
