New Teams-icon is huge in the start menu (Windows 10)

Hey!

I am trying to setup a new start menu-layout by xml through gpo.

Everything works as intended, but the New Teams-icon is huge compaired to the other icons.

Is there any known way to fix this somehow?

This is how weird it looks:

I still want to keep the tiles to the uniform size, which is 2x2.

Also, to clarify, I am talking about "New Teams"-app.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum!

The oversized New Teams icon in the Start menu can indeed disrupt the uniform look you're aiming for. Here are a few steps you can try to resize the icon:

    Resize the Tile Manually:

Right-click on the New Teams tile in the Start menu.

Select Resize and choose Medium. This should make the tile 2x2, matching the size of your other tiles.

    Check XML Layout Configuration:

Ensure that your XML layout file specifies the correct size for the New Teams tile. The XML should include a section with the appropriate size settings.

    Reset the App:

Sometimes, resetting the app can help. Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & features, find New Teams, and select Advanced options. From there, you can reset the app.

    Update or Reinstall the App:

Make sure you have the latest version of the New Teams app. If the issue persists, try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

    Best Regards,

    Wesley Li

    Hello!

Thanks for your answer, but the issue is not with the tile itself. It's the Teams-icon that is the wrong size. The tile is already 2x2, but as seen in the picture, the icon is too big and almost takes up the entire tile, whereas the icons in others tiles are smaller in the same 2x2 tile. Those icons have more padding around them, whereas Teams almost have none at all, making it look very weird:

I've tried all the steps above, but the issue still persists and it looks the same way on several computers.

Unless there is some icon-specific settings you can set in the XML, but I only know about the specific tile-size-settings, but not for the icon itself.

Did you ever get this resolved? I'm having the same issue. It looks to be related to the shortcut pointing to an APP vs pointing to an exe shortcut in %appdata%\microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs (like it did previously). It auto enables the live tile feature too. Grrrr. The shortcut looks fine in Windows 11 when using Intune to manage. This is a Microsoft issue I'm sure of it. They keep changing the location of Teams and its complicated things for anyone still trying to use GPO and XML to manage start layout. I'm still trying to troubleshoot when I have time but haven't done much yet.
