Easy User Switch From Lock Screen for Win 11 Enterprise?

Hello!

I've scoured the internet as much as I can sanely do to find an answer to this question. On a work computer that runs Windows 11 Enterprise (from the lock screen), is there a way to switch users without knowing the current user's password? There isn't an option to click to change users, and I don't have permissions to change any actual computer settings (using cmd, task manager, etc)

Once upon a time, there was a keyboard key combination that I used to simply give the ability to switch users without having to restart the computer entirely. I got my own computer, which is a manager computer, that always has the switch user option on the lock screen, so no need for the non manager computer. But for convenience, I would like to help my employees with switching users on the back computers, when whoever signed in first leaves for the day

Sorry for the gratuitous info, I just want to cover all bases to be as clear as possible! I don't know if the following info will help, but here are the problem machine specs:

Windows 11 Enterprise

Version 21H2

OS Build - 22000.2836

Experience - Windows Feature Pack Experience 1000.22001.1000.0

64 bit OS, x64-based processor

If it's possible to change from the lock screen, please share! If not, also please share!

Thank you and have a good day!

    Hi Bingo Buddy,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community Forums.

May I ask why you are not able to make changes to the logged in user? Is it just because there is no option to log in with another user prompted on the login screen? What is the case with the user you need to switch user logins? Are they all different machine accounts on the same computer? Or are they different user accounts in the same company domain? If you are not prompted to log in with another account, you can try just typing in a different account and password to log in.

If the issue is not resolved, I suggest you post a screenshot of the inability to switch user login pages in a follow-up reply.

    Best regards

    Neuvi Jiang

    Hello, Neuvi!

We have multiple computers in our building, but my employees only have access to two, the two that we can't easily switch accounts from. If the current user leaves for the day, the only way for someone else to log in is to restart the computer, then showing the option to switch users in the bottom left

Without restarting, the only thing in the bottom left of the lock screen is the current users name and then a button for forgot password

I'll happily provide screenshots when I'm back in office Friday!

If a quick switch isn't possible any more, it is what it is, but I'd be forever grateful if I could learn this trick!

    Thank you for the reply!

    Hi Bingo Buddy,

    Have a nice day!

If you can't switch users, it means that the previous user didn't log out of the account he was using, but just locked the computer, so you can only log in to the previous user account that you used. If you want to switch users on the lock screen screen, you must let the user who finished using the computer log out of the account he used, not just lock the screen.

    Best regards

Hello Neuvi, do you know how to add a new user account to the lockscreen of my laptop? I can only put one account, I’m just wondering if you can guide me (my laptop is a black dell with windows 11 2024 Inspiron).
