What do I do if notifications on my laptop won't stop popping up and saying that the last USB device connected has malfunctioned?

I was not using my laptop at the time and left it open as I am doing university assignments and when I come back to it, this message keeps popping up saying that the last USB device connected has malfunctioned. The only thing I can think of is when I unplugged my iphone charger from my USB port, however I even when I plugged my phone charger back in, the notification kept popping up. I have looked at Device Manager and located the error, however it will not let me update it and I am unsure what to do from here. If anyone could please help me as I have assignments due?

    hi,

I have that issue. That means the USB port is broken. Try a different port. You can have the port repaired if your device is under warranty.

Is there a way to get rid of the constant notification pop ups whilst I’m waiting to go and get it repaired?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

From your description, please check the time of notification. If the time keeps updating, that means the USB port is keep plugging and unplugging, that may cause by the USB port driver or the port is broken. You may need to use another USB port to check the issue.

    Best Regards

I know this is a bit late, but might be helpful for others in the future.

Yes you can disable the notifications by either clicking on the three dots in the notification pop up and selecting disable all notifications from Windows Explorer, or you can disable it by going into Notifications settings and toggling the Windows Explorer notifications off.

Of course this will mean you will not get any other Windows Explorer based notifications until you enable it again.
