Hyper-V guests fail to start after October 2023 Windows Updates

KB5031361 and KB5031222 we applied last night. Upon reboot, most of my virtual failed to start, giving errors like:

RemoteException: Failed to start virtual machine PfSense. Error: 'PfSense' failed to start. Microsoft Emulated IDE Controller (Instance ID 83F8638B-8DCA-4152-9EDA-2CA8B33039B4): Failed to Power on with Error 'Incorrect function.'. Failed to open attachment 'D:\Hyper-V\Virtual Hard Disks\TOOLS_1C1580BD-0253-4888-88AA-259EE9D43246.avhdx'. Error: 'Incorrect function.'.

This affected *some*, but not *all*, of my Linux and Unix guest OSs.

Host hardware is HP ProLiant DL360 Gen9.

Temporary fix was to uninstall those KBs and reboot. One hour later after waiting for "Working on updates, 100%, don't power off" blue screen, my virtuals were able to boot.

Would be interested in other folks' experiences similar to this, and if/when a patch to the patch might be available.

Try and use the following solution (Basically disable any replication and rename the hard drive file and update settings)
