Back on Win10 LTSC after one update, I had a long startup (long time was on "welcome"), then I put Win11 (the latest version with all updates) and now I have after the desktop appears, it takes about 50 seconds to start programs from autoboot. Previously it took about 15 seconds, I do not understand what could be the problem, because all the programs from the autoboot were before.

Yes, I tried disabling some of the programs from auto boot and it didn't solve the problem.

PC Configuration:

CPU: Ryzen 9 5950x
GPU: NVIDIA RTX 4080

RAM: 32+32gb (3600MHz)

SSD: NVMe Samsung 980 PRO (500gb) (system)

SSD: GOODRAM IRDM GEN. 2 (240 GB)

HDD: WD Blue WD20EZBX (2 TB, 256/7200)

Windows 11 Pro (23H2, 22631.3447, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22688.1000.0)

AutoRun.exe, display-time.exe, System Monitoring.exe - these are my own programs. AutoRun.exe has such time, because it launches the browser according to the condition.

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

I understand your concern about the long delay before launching programs from autorun on your Windows 11 system. Here are some potential solutions you could try:

Disable Unnecessary Startup Applications: You can disable the applications that you don’t want to run on startup via Task Manager. However, you mentioned that you’ve already tried disabling some programs from auto boot and it didn’t solve the problem.

Change Power Plan to High Performance: Changing the power plan to high performance in the control panel can sometimes improve the boot up time.

Update Display Adapter Driver: Updating the display adapter driver in the device manager can also help.

Uninstall Unused Programs and Apps: Uninstalling unused programs and apps in the apps and features settings can potentially speed up the boot time.

Clean System Files: You can clean system files by pressing Windows key + R and typing: cleanmgr press Enter. Click on clean system files and wait for the files to load. Select all files and click ok to delete them.

Turn on Fast Startup: Go to Control Panel > System and Security > Power Options > Choose what the Power Button Does > Change settings not currently available. Check the option “Turn on fast startup (Recommended)” and click Save Changes.

If the issue persists, it might be worth considering a system restore or a fresh installation of Windows 11.

    Best Regards,

    Wesley Li

    1. All the programs in the auto run are the right ones (I keep an eye on it).
    2. I have it set to high output as it is.
    3. I update the drivers periodically and now it is the latest.

4- This is clearly not helpful and again, I'm keeping an eye on it.

    1. I just did this and it didn't help.
    2. I have quick start enabled as it is.

I don't have restore points and if I'm not mistaken, this problem has been there since the very installation of windows 11.

If you want a more in-depth analysis of why "start programs from autoboot" runs slowly, you can try using the WPR tool:

WPR is part of the Windows Performance Toolkit (WPT) and is designed for capturing and analyzing system traces. It allows you to record detailed traces of system activity over a period of time, including startup processes. WPR is particularly useful for diagnosing performance issues, such as slow boot times, by providing in-depth data on various system activities during startup.
