2024-02-19T02:43:21+00:00 Hi Clark Suzuki,
here are some troubleshooting steps that you can try:
- Restart your computer and try installing the update again.
- Disable any antivirus software temporarily and try installing the update again.
- Run the Windows Update Troubleshooter to identify and fix any issues with Windows Update.
- Download the update manually from Microsoft Update Catalog and install it manually.
- Try resetting the Windows Update components by following the steps in this article: Additional resources for Windows Update - Windows Client | Microsoft Learn.
If none of these steps work, please provide me more details about this issue such as the error code and so on.
Best regards,
Lei

2024-03-03T15:58:56+00:00 I also have an issue with KB5034768.
Error Code: 0xc000021a (BSOD)
Server: Hyper-V VM
OS: Windows Server 2019 Standard Version 1809 (OS Build 17763.5329)
HD: 500GB / 250GB Free
Memory: 64GB
Processor: 12-Virtual
Server Software: Microsoft SQL Server 2014 (64-bit)
Error Code: 0xc000021a
Description: Windows installs updates, quickly during the reboot process we receive BSOD with error code 0xc000021a. The server collects data then automatically reboots. The second reboot also receives the same error code, the server collects data again and reboots the third time into a troubleshooting panel. None of the troubleshooting options worked. The only fix was to restore the VM from a backup. We are now manually processing windows security updates via PowerShell, by passing KB5034768.
We have multiple Server 2019 VMs on this same Hyper-V host. Only this one has this issue. All other VMs are fully up-to-date. The one difference is this machine has SQL running.
