Hello,

A Server HP Rok 2019 standard that is in use and NOT configured for active directory.

There was a certain application that was not working like it should be on that time on active directory so since there are only 3 users it was not a big issue that time.

Now they have moved the server to another location and they need to connect over RDP.

The server has RDP active and there is no problem to access the server with 2 users.

When the 3th user wants to connect the question is there to throw out one other user that is in use.

Since the server has no active directory and just in system settings External Desktop set to On i am not sure wich license i need to order to incresae the RDP clients.

On this server there is HP ROK 2019 Standard with a Cal license of 5.

Do i need to upgrade RDS cal and how can i tell the system that there is a license since there is nothing configured to use Remote Desktop only the External Desktop is switched to on.

Don't want to order the wrong license.. Can i set something in license before i buy for trial to see if it is working ?

Thanks

Hello,

To enable more than two simultaneous RDP sessions, you need to install the Remote Desktop Services role and purchase the appropriate number of RDS CALs.

First, you'll need to install the RDS role via Server Manager. This includes RD Licensing, RD Session Host, and RD Connection Broker roles. Since you have 5 CALs, if these are RDS CALs, you should be covered for 5 users/devices.

Once you have the RDS CALs, you need to install and activate your RD License Server through the Remote Desktop Licensing Manager and install the CALs. Then, you'll have to configure the RD Session Host to point to the RD License Server to ensure it recognizes the installed CALs.

Microsoft offer a 120-day grace period for RDS where you can install the RDS role without needing to immediately provide RDS CALs. This allows you to set up and test RDS functionality before committing to purchasing the CALs. You can add the RDS role through Server Manager. Then, go to the RD Licensing Manager, and the server will operate under a grace period allowing you to connect more than two users.

Here are some references:

I hope this helps.

Best regards
