Windows 11 PC network issue

Why does my own PC not show up in my network on File Explorer? The computer is on the network and has files and folders shared. Others can access it. On my Surface, the network shows the other devices on the network, but it also shows the Surface, too. Thanks for explaining this.

    Hello,

I recommend that you try the following methods to see if they can solve the problem:

Enable the sharing service to start automatically. This problem usually occurs when one of the services is not working properly.

Press the Windows logo key + R.

In the Run dialog box, type "services.msc", and then select OK.

Right-click each of the following services, select Properties, and if the service is not running, select the Start menu, and then select Automatic next to Startup type:

    Function Discovery Provider Host

    Function Discovery Resource Publishing

    SSDP Discovery

    UPnP Device Host

If the problem still cannot be solved, I suggest you try restarting the Function Discovery Resource Publication service.

    Best regards

    Zunhui

I ended up connecting with a high-level Microsoft tech. He may have done what you suggested, but he was moving so quickly it was hard to follow. What he did do was enable a policy to connect with insecure devices. Not sure why Microsoft makes this almost impossible to do by a lay person.
