We are to upgrade our OS from Windows Server 2012 R2 --> Windows Server 2019 DC --> Windows Server 2022 DC

I am making a thorough study of the processes as I am not a IT Admin.

Please let us know,

  1. Are there any list of drivers of WS 2012 R2 that might not work with the higher version of WS2016/WS2022 ?
  2. Is there any list of drivers supported by the OS versions?
  3. What should be taken care of with the drivers before and after the upgrade of the OS?

Thanks in advance!

Hello Radhai,

for your questions:

  1. Some WS 2012 R2 drivers may not work with later versions of WS2016/WS2022. This is because different versions of the operating system may require different versions of drivers. Before upgrading your operating system, you should check the manufacturer's website of each device to ensure that you have downloaded and installed the latest drivers for your new operating system version.
  2. A specific list of drivers is usually supported by operating system versions. You can look up your device and operating system version in Microsoft's hardware compatibility list to see if they are compatible. If your device isn't on the list, you can contact the device manufacturer for more information.
  3. Before upgrading your operating system, you should back up all your data and make sure you have the latest version of the driver installed. After upgrading your operating system, you should reinstall all drivers to ensure that they are compatible with the new operating system version. If you encounter any issues, contact your device manufacturer for assistance.

Hope it helps.

Best regards,

Lei
