None of my credentials will let me connect to my remote desktop connection.

I've seen a few things around this; but no answers that seem to fix it?

I set up the remote desktop on my Win 10 Pro desktop and added myself as a user to be able to access the desktop remotely.

But whenever I try to remote in from my desktop is says the credentials aren't right. I know the password is right because I can log into my microsoft acct.

I've seen people saying that it might be the password to log onto that PC; but I've only ever used a PIN to log into the PC.

I thought about going into the user groups and re-setting the password for the user; but there is a big message about losing info because I'm resetting the password, which I don't want to do.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

    Hi JohnBollenbacher,

Thanks for your post in Microsoft Community.

It sounds like you are currently having a problem that unable to remote desktop. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    1. This situation may be that after logging in with the Microsoft account password, the previous login information is stored on the computer, and the remote desktop cannot directly verify the Microsoft account. You can try some methods to see if it solves the problem:

Log out of the account on the controlled computer, and choose to log in with the Microsoft account password on the login option. After the login, try the remote desktop again, and use the account and password to see if you can log in.

    1. Control Panel > System > Advanced System Settings > Remote > Check Allow remote connections to this computer > Click to select user > Add this user and save.
    2. Try to create a new local account to check if you can connect.

How to create a local user account:Create a local user or administrator account in Windows (microsoft.com)

    1. Control Panel > Credential Manager > Go to Manage Your Credentials interface > Click Windows Credentials > Add Windows Credentials > Add Username and Password > OK

Internet address or network address can enter you need the IP address of the remote end device, The username and password are also the username and password for entering the remote device login.

Feel free to post back if you need further assistance.
