Hallo,

I want to change a distribution group which it contains several layers of distribution group as member.

If I want to change the distribution group and also it members (which the members also distribution group) become a mail-enabled security group, how many layers are allowed?

Thanks.

Regards,

Fera

    Hello Fera_S,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Mail-enabled security groups support nested group memberships up to a certain limit, similar to distribution groups. In general, Exchange supports nested group memberships up to a maximum depth of 10 levels.

However, it is essential to keep in mind that adding multiple layers can complicate management and potentially impact performance.

Here are some key points to consider:

1.Layer Complexity: The deeper the nesting, the harder it becomes to manage and troubleshoot issues.

2.Permissions: Ensure that all nested groups have the correct permissions assigned.

3.Performance: Excessive nesting can lead to slower performance, especially during group expansion.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
