My laptop is now locked by BitLocker, and I didn't set it up.

I purchased my laptop about 1 year ago, and it's been working great. Today I booted it up and now it wants a BitLocker code. I have never set it up, never heard of it. I logged into my account and doesn't show the device. I AM NOT FORMATTING MY DRIVE! Please tell me how to get around this so I can get back in.

It was never set up by anyone. I used it on Thursday, then Saturday it was enabled. No one has used it other than me. If no one ever set it up, then how would I find the key. The websites that everyone sends me to, gives me the same tasks and I have not found my device or my key. It seems that Microsoft enabled it and is now forcing me to wipe my drive. If that the case then I am going to Apple. Give me a solution

Apparently, your work can lock your computer without you knowing if you login on your personal device.

    This worked for me:

I forced a shut down and restarted 2x. Did it a 3rd time and on the reboot held down F11.

This brough me to the BIOS screen where I could select "BIOS setup",

Then another screen with several options - select "secure boot" and ensure it is enabled, then also select "security" which provides a drop down of options, select "PTT security" and turn PTT security ON, select "apply" and then select "exit" and reboot the computer.

The first reboot took me to another blue "recovery" screen saying the PC couldn't turn off properly.

Again forced it to shut down and restart and then the computer started up normally and functioned again.

    Hello,

Windows activate Bitlocker by default. This is not your fault or anyone except Microsoft, they do not teach people what is Bitlocker, how it is working and how to recover it.

Did you set up your microsoft account on your computer ? (like hotmail.com or something else)

    Rgds
