Printer Redirection not working on my remote server

Hello,

I have a broker server "windows server 2019" and two rdp servers "windows server 2019".

Since installing the latest Windows Server 2019 updates (March 2024), my Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environment is experiencing printer redirection issues. Users can access desktops and applications normally, but printing through their redirected printers fails. Error messages include "The Handle is invalid" or connection errors. I've attempted restarting servers, verifying redirection settings, and even uninstalling the updates, but the problem persists.

Taking in Consideration that if i access my remote admin in admin mode (mstsc /admin) the redirection printer work well

Any Suggestions for further troubleshooting this problem?

    this seriously is ridiculous.

I don't want to restore a backup to a server just for a stupid printer problem caused by an incompetent Microsoft Staff who authorized the release of this update without providing a working solution from the date of the release of the mentioned update until today...!!!!!

I'm having the same problems after installing March 12, 2024 KB5035849

Same error when printing The handle is invalid, and I get the error even with administrator mode.

Indeed, I decided not to wait for a solution from Microsoft. Despite uninstalling the update, the issue continued.

Given that it is a terminal server environment, I refrained from restoring a backup and instead created two new terminal servers.

It seems that you are not alone - I've catched several cases within the blog post.

Windows Server 2019: March 2024 update KB5035849 prevents printer redirection

Addendum: A German blog reader provided a workaround, because he faced this issue sind January 2024.

PS: It seems that I don't have a moderator role here to escalate it to MS staff. So, to the other moderators: Could you escalate this thread to other moderators and forward it to the product group? Thanks. BTW: I tried to convince @MicrosoftHelps to forward it to the product group - but they told me to create a feedback hub entry to "improve Windows" - same bullshit as every time.

    Hi,

I tried a lot of things, but nothing worked. The only thing that worked for me was to recover the VM from a backup the day before the update was installed, and I disabled the automatic updates for now.
