Win Server 2025 show status on-boarded but Device Health status says, "Defender Antivirus not active +5 more issues".
Windows server 2025 On board to defender
I have a question regarding the new Server version Windows server 2025.
I want to onboard the server to Microsoft Defender and wonder if it is compatible with the new server version.
I am asking because I don't see the option in the onboarding page under "select operating system to start onboarding"

2025-02-26T22:10:36+00:00 Hi mark,
I managed to get to the bottom of this. Officially MS Defender is not supported yet for server 2025.... Much to my Dismay.
Official support should be out soon. Lots of documentation state it can be onboarded but nothing about supporting it just yet.

I just onboarded a bunch of servers and this is the exact same thing I see. Have you been able to make any progress since you last post?

thank you for posting on the Microsoft Community Forums.
As of now, there hasn't been an official announcement regarding full support for Windows Server 2025 in Microsoft Defender.
Microsoft typically updates their support documentation and product capabilities over time, especially with new server releases. Please stay tuned for the latest news.
Best regards,

Microsoft Defender is completely compatible with Windows Server 2025 and you can onboard the server.
Yes, you can onboard a new Windows Server version to Microsoft Defender, as Microsoft Defender for Endpoint is compatible with current Windows Server versions like Windows Server 2019 and 2022, allowing you to onboard your server to the platform without compatibility issues; simply access the Microsoft Defender portal and follow the onboarding steps for Windows Server machines.
- Access the portal: Go to the Microsoft Defender portal to initiate the onboarding process.
- Select server OS: When choosing the operating system, select the appropriate Windows Server version (like 2019 or 2022).
- Onboarding method: You can choose a deployment method like a local script to onboard your server.
