So we made a smb share folder on a pc, but at one point they forgot password and changed it away, then back to the original, BUT the other pc cant access the folder no more keeps coming up with the The referenced account is currently locked out shared folder, its not acessable you do not have persmission
but its not locked, they can login on host pc fine, and ost can locate the other pc but other pc cant conenct to host cause of that warning, they kind off need it for back up and would really like the function back

From what i have read, its acting like the host pc is locked but its not , when i try look up in Computer Manegement both pc's does not even have a "Local users and groups" tab, so i cant just add a user from there.

Just looking for feedback, they used as office pc's and i doubt they wanna format.

    Hello,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Based on your description, you can try the following steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    1. Reset the password for the shared folder: On the console, try changing the password for accessing the shared folder again to make sure it matches the password used on the other computers. You can find the user in Computer Management and reset the password.
    2. Make sure the permissions for the shared folder are set correctly. Make sure that the correct users are added and the appropriate permissions are granted.
    3. Make sure network discovery and file sharing are enabled on the host and client computers.

Check your firewall settings to make sure that you are not blocking traffic for SMB shares. You can try temporarily disabling the firewall for testing.

    1. On the client computer, open Control Panel > Credential Manager, delete any credentials associated with the host, and try connecting to the shared folder again.
    2. You can try resetting the network connection using the command line. Open a command prompt (as an administrator) and enter the following command:

    net use * /delete

    Then reconnect the shared folder.

    1. If the computer is in a domain, check the Group Policy settings to make sure there are no policies blocking access to shared folders.
    2. Sometimes restarting your computer can fix a temporary network or permission issue.

If the preceding steps still do not resolve the issue, we recommend that you provide more error messages or logs for more in-depth troubleshooting. Hopefully, these recommendations will help you restore access to shared folders.

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to let us know.

    Regards,

    Jill Zhou
