Assistance Required with Item-Level Targeting for Drive Mapping

Hi Team,

I have successfully configured the Group Policy for drive mapping, and it is working as expected. However, I am facing an issue when trying to configure item-level targeting.

I have created a group and granted full access to a specific shared folder. The same group has been configured in the item-level targeting. Despite this, the drive is not being mapped for the intended users.

When I remove the item-level targeting, the drive is visible to everyone, but my goal is to restrict access to the shared folder for specific users only.

Could you please assist me in resolving this issue so that only the selected users have access to the folder?

Thank you for your support.

Best regards,

Yogesh Meher

Hello

Good day!

If it is user configuration in this GPO, for "Security Filtering", we can use the following two filter method:

  1. Do not remove "Authenticated users ",add user group.

2.Make Authenticated users have "Read" permission.

3.Make user group have "Read" and "Apply group policy" permissions.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

Best Regards,

Daisy Zhou

    Hi Daisy,

Thank you for your prompt response. Below are the answers to your queries:

    1. Do you link the GPO to domain or OU?
The GPO is linked to the OU.
    2. Do you configure Security Filtering for this GPO?
Yes, I have configured Security Filtering with the specific user group.
    3. Do you select users in the group below?
I have selected the user group, not the computer group.

Please let me know if you need any further information.

    Thanks

    Hello yogeshmeher,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community forum.

Because the drive map is under user configuration, you should put domain user objects into OU.

1.Do you link the GPO to domain or OU?

2.Do you configure Security Filtering about this GPO?

3.Do you select user in group below?

I hope the information above is helpful.

If you have any question or concern, please feel free to let us know.

    Best Regards,

    Daisy Zhou
