Can't access NAS folders in Windows 11 24H2

Since updating to 24H2 I can get to the NAS but can not access the sub folders. It states that is not accessible or you may not have permissions. I have created a folder that has open access to everyone and still the same issue but users on 23H2 can access everything fine. NAS has SMB signing on and its not SMBv1. I also have it setup that you do have to authenticate with network credentials. I have gone down the rabbit hole of the SMB changes with 24H2 but I have not found a solution or workaround yet. any ideas?

    Hello

Thank you for posting in Q&A forum.

Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot this issue:

    1. Disable SMB Client Signing Requirement:

    • Open the Local Group Policy Editor by pressing Win + R, typing gpedit.msc, and pressing Enter.

    • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.

    • Find and double-click Microsoft network client: Digitally sign communications (always).

    • Select Disabled, then click Apply and OK.

    2. Disable Guest Fallback Protection:

    • In the Local Group Policy Editor, go to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Network > Lanman Workstation.

    • Find and double-click Enable insecure guest logons.

    • Set it to Enabled, then click Apply and OK.

    1. Ensure that your NAS is configured to support SMB signing. Some NAS devices may have settings that need to be adjusted to work with the new SMB requirements in Windows 11 24H2.
    2. Check if there are any firmware updates available for your NAS. Sometimes, manufacturers release updates to improve compatibility with new operating system versions.
    3. Try accessing the NAS using its IP address directly in File Explorer. For example, type \<NAS_IP_Address> in the address bar and see if you can access the subfolders.

I hope the information above is helpful.
