Are those physicals servers or virtualize ?
This is the official documentation from Microsoft https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/migrate/
Pre-Migration Assessment
Inventory Your On‑Premises Servers: – Document the details (operating system, workloads, resource usage, applications, dependencies). – Ensure that the servers are supported for migration (check OS versions, disk configurations, etc.).
Review Licensing & Compliance: – Verify if your current licenses allow migration to Azure (especially for Windows Server and any third‑party apps). – Ensure that data compliance requirements are met.
Plan Your Azure Environment: – Azure Subscription: Confirm you have an active Azure subscription. – Networking: Design your Virtual Network (VNet): range of IP addresses, subnets, Network Security Groups (NSGs), and connectivity (VPN/ExpressRoute if needed). – Region Selection: Choose an Azure region based on performance, data residency, and cost considerations.
Set Up the Azure Migrate Project
- Create an Azure Migrate Project: – Log in to the Azure Portal. – Search for “Azure Migrate” and create a new project. – Choose the appropriate settings (assessment and migration module) for server migration.
- Provision the Azure Migrate Appliance: – Download the appliance from the Azure Migrate project page. – Install the appliance (it can be set up as a virtual machine on‑premises if you’re migrating virtual machines, or run it on a physical server) following the installation guide.
- Configure Discovery & Assessment: – Register your on‑premises servers with the Azure Migrate appliance. – Allow the appliance to discover servers over a period (typically a few days to capture usage metrics). – Review the assessment reports that show resource utilization, sizing recommendations, and compatibility.
I hope this clarifies things.
