Widevine DRM disabled for Linux environments

Hello,

I recently encountered an issue where video playback on platforms like Crunchyroll has stopped working in Microsoft Edge on Linux. Upon contacting Crunchyroll support, I was informed that Microsoft has disabled Widevine DRM on Edge for Linux. I confirmed this by checking edge://flags/#edge-widevine-drm, where the flag is greyed out with the message "Not available on your platform. (Enables the Widevine content decryption module in Microsoft Edge. – Mac, Windows)."

This functionality was previously working. Is there a known workaround to restore Widevine DRM support and continue using Edge as my primary browser on Linux?

Thank you.

    Hi @Eddy Guzmeli ,

Unfortunately, Widevine DRM is not available on Linux now.

However, there's a possible workaround to re-enable this feature on Linux. You can try launching Edge from Terminal using microsoft-edge --enable-features=msWidevinePlatform. Make sure you have closed all Edge instances first.

If this workaround does not work, I'm afraid it is simply disabled for some reasons. Please request this feature by sending feedback in Microsoft Edge at ··· menu --> Help and feedback --> Send feedback. Thanks for your understanding.
