Hi Team,

We are startup company born on the internet and we would like to setup our identity domain as blumotiv.com for our existing tenant ID. We have completed the domain verification.

Can you please advise what would be our next steps

  1. Change our Primary domain to our registered domain from the default primary domain created when we activated Azure subscription.
  2. How do we enrol our Azure VMs into this domain and manage.

As administrator I have managed on premise AD, however Entra ID is a new animal. So any documentation and comments would be of great help.

Regards

Bhanu

Hello @Bhanu ,

You have configured your identity domain as xxxx.com for your existing tenant ID and successfully completed domain verification. Now, you would like to set xxxx.com as the primary domain and enroll your Azure virtual machines into this domain for management purposes.

To change your primary domain to your registered domain (xxxx.com) in Microsoft Entra ID, follow these steps:

  1. Sign in to the Microsoft Entra admin center as a Global Administrator.
  2. Navigate to Entra ID > Domain names.
  3. Select Custom domain names.
  4. Choose your registered domain (xxx.com) from the list.
  5. Click on the Make primary command and confirm your choice when prompted.

The above steps can set your registered domain as the primary domain for your organization.

Regarding enrolling your Azure VMs into this domain, you can follow this document: https://github.com/MicrosoftDocs/azure-compute-docs/blob/main/articles/virtual-machines/custom-domain.md

Also as you mentioned Entra ID is a new animal to you, can follow these documents: What is Microsoft Entra ID
