Good morning,

Per my subscriptions in O365 I should have access to Project for Office (Plan E3) but I am unable to access it.

Please advise how to access.

If you can’t find Project for Office (Plan E3) even though it is included in your Office 365 subscription, use these steps to find the solution:

    Step 1: Confirm License Assignment

Do a check to make sure the Project for Office (Plan E3) license is part of your user account.

    1. Open the Microsoft 365 admin center and sign in as the administrator. https://admin.microsoft.com
    2. Go to Users> Active users
    3. Look under your name and click Licenses and Apps.
    4. See to it that the Plan E3 option for Project for Office is marked

If you were not given the rights, contact your admin and ask for access to be granted.

Step 2: Learn the Importance of Project for Office (Plan E3)

This does not cover the usage of Microsoft Project Plan 3 or Plan 5, the project management application.

Project for Office (Plan E3) is designed to help by supporting integration tasks between Project Online and SharePoint.

You will not be able to use it for these things:

    Microsoft Project desktop app

    Project for the web

If you don’t have any other license, Project Online will be used for project management.

Step 3: If You’re Seeking Project Online or Project for the Web

You can use Project with one of the available Project licenses.

Project Plan 1 is the one you will use for Project for the web.

This project is about a desktop and web app.

    Project Plan 5

Both these licensing options can be acquired or tested by yourself in your Microsoft 365 admin center.

Step 4: Even though you have access to services, the installation might still fail.

If your Project Plan license is Project Plan 3, but the installation does not work:

    1. Go to https://portal.office.com/account
    2. Click Apps & Devices
    3. Select Project from the projects menu and hit Install.
    4. If this fails:

Use the MS Support and Recovery Assistant (SaRA) application: https://aka.ms/SaRA-ProjectInstall

    Still Need Help?

Should you still not be sure about your license or why it’s blocked, please go on to step 4 below.

    1. Go to https://portal.office.com/account
    2. Next, go to Subscriptions and review all the apps and services assigned to you.
    3. If you share the list with me, I’ll be able to help you more.
