I received this email : Action required: Make a purchase by June 7, 2025 to continue using your tenant

You are receiving this email because your associated Microsoft Entra ID tenant (tenant ID xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx) has been inactive for more than 200 days.

It has a button to purchase but I'm wary of clicking on it.

What is this email about? Why do I need to pay? My subscription is due for renewal end September?

What will I lose if I don't purchase something? I don't know what this tenant ID is or what it does!

Hello @Santie Stead,

This email is triggered when you haven't accessed or signed in to your Azure tenant for the past 90 days. As per Microsoft data retention policy, if a tenant remains inactive without any sign-in activity, the account gets disabled, and customer data deleted.

User's image

If you don’t log in to your Azure tenant via https://portal.azure.com/ within the specified time frame, it may be permanently deleted. Inactivity can trigger Microsoft’s process to remove unused tenants. Once a tenant is marked as inactive, the OMS commerce system enforces a login block. During this time, any sign-in attempts will result in the following error: "AADSTS5000225: This tenant has been blocked due to inactivity."

Twenty days after the login block is applied, the tenant will be permanently deleted.

For more details about inaccessible tenant, please refer: Tenant inaccessible due to inactivity

If you plan to unblock your inactive Azure tenant (Not linked to personal account apps), it’s essential that it has been blocked for less than 20 days. After the 20-day period, the tenant is permanently deleted and cannot be recovered.

If it has been less than 20 days since the block, please provide the following details for further assistance via private message:

  • Tenant ID
  • Error Code
  • Correlation ID from the recent failure
  • Timestamp from the recent failure
  • Business impact and justification for restoring the tenant, and an explanation of the impact if the tenant cannot be restored

Note: If it's a test tenant, please re-create a new tenant for testing purposes.

Quickstart: Create a new tenant in Microsoft Entra ID

Let us know if you have any additional queries. Happy to assist you further.
