Why do our Ads display more on Yahoo thean on BIng

Since about July 2024 our ads have switched from predominately displaying on Bing.com Search to predominately displaying on Yahoo search. This is a notable change, and we have found that Yahoo does not convert nearly as well for our campaigns.

I have asked this question of MS ads support many times, and it goes unanswered. Why is this and how do we reverse it. If we cant reverse it we will be forced to terminate all our advertising and revert to only using Google search.

This is not an issue with your ads network as we only restrict our campaigns to search.

    Hello Adrian,

I understand that you've noticed a sudden shift where your ads are mainly being displayed on Yahoo rather than on Bing. I'll be more than happy to relay your personal details to our higher-level teams for providing you with a more comprehensive and uniquely-tailored response. Please provide the requested details by responding to my private message. For the time being, I hope that the points provided here will be of some use to you for a start.

Microsoft Advertising updated the options for ad distribution with the goal of growing quality volume to advertisers by empowering search supply partners with new, advanced quality controls. Advertisers who meet our quality requirements were reclassified from search partners into a new ad distribution tier called Microsoft sites and Select traffic. Nothing changes to the way we allow domain transparency. Search partners will continue to report all the domains, and the Select bucket (formerly O&O) won’t report individual domains, unless the domains are reporting native traffic.

You can use the ad distribution settings to select where you want your ads to show. You can choose to show your ads on the entire Microsoft Advertising Network or its subsets. Based on the option you choose, Microsoft AI will optimize your campaign so that your ads get the best performance and conversions. You can choose to show your ads on the following 2 options:

    • The entire Microsoft Advertising Network (recommended). This option includes:

Note: Because these sites are reported in aggregate, you cannot see individual reports for each domain. - Additional partner traffic (including Microsoft Bing and Yahoo search partners, such as Ask.com, Forbes, and others) for extended reach and lower cost per click. Learn more about Microsoft Bing Network traffic.

*Note*: We recommend this option because it can extend your ad reach, drive conversions, and provide a lower cost per click. You can also see which syndicated partners extend your campaign's reach by running your Website URL (publisher) report (available on the Reports page). You can then use the Exclusions feature to exclude specific sites that you don't want your ads to run on. To learn more, see [How to prevent your ads from showing to certain people](https://help.ads.microsoft.com/#apex/ads/en/51041/0 "help.ads.microsoft.com").

    • Microsoft sites and select traffic. This option includes:

Note: Because these sites are reported in aggregate, you cannot see individual reports for each domain.

    About ad distribution

The ad distribution optionsBing, AOL, and Yahoo apply to search (owned and operated) only and Bing, AOL, and Yahoo syndicated search partners only apply to advertising set up in the following locations: Australia, Austria, Canada, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, India, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom, and United States (excluding US territories). These settings will not show when you select outside of these markets, either through ad language selection or targeting. All other locations will use All search networks even if the other two options are selected. When you run the Publisher Performance report, you'll see websites based on these ad distribution rules. To learn how ad language and location targeting affects who sees your ads, see How does location targeting and ad language affect who can see my ads?

The Website URL report is a great tool for determining how well your ad is doing on search network sites. From this report, you'll see how often your ad displays on different sites; this can help you determine which sites are beneficial and which are not. You can then use the Exclusions feature to exclude specific sites from search ad distribution. Please keep in mind that you can't add Yahoo or Microsoft sites (such as MSN.com) to your excluded websites list for search ads. To learn more, see How to prevent your ads from showing to certain people.

Our support teams are happy to discuss your account in more detail via phone, chat or email to provide review assistance, please see our support page to reach out!

I hope the information provided here was of some use to you. If you have any additional questions please do not hesitate to reach out to our support. I have also sent you a private message asking for further details so that I can begin the investigation on my side.

    Kind regards,
