    Hello TristonAnderson,

On the Desktop, click the expandable icon list in the notification area. In the default configuration, this will be on the right side of your task bar. You should find a little symbol shaped like the letter B, this is the standard symbol for Bluetooth technology. Right-click/long-press on this icon. When the context-menu appears, select "Receive a file." The Bluetooth window should pop up.

Now, share the file on your phone with the Surface, and the download should begin. After the download completes, you should have the chance to choose where you want the file saved in a browse menu

possibly you not set your Surface to received files.

    Before you sending the files:

    • right-click at Bluetooth logo at the taskbar (right-bottom)
    • select 'Receive a File'

a pop up windows will show that stated as 'waiting for someone to starts transmitting files...'

then you can begin transfer files from your S3.

    Greetings Haan_x,

James is correct, you cannot transfer files to an iPhone via USB on the Surface RT. You can however, do this over Bluetooth.

You should be able to send a file from your iPhone to your Surface over Bluetooth with the following steps:

    1. Pair your Surface and iPhone (See how to add Bluetooth devices)
    2. Open the Desktop app on the Surface.
    3. Right click on the Bluetooth icon in the Notification area (bottom right)
    4. Click on Receive a file
    5. Share/send the file from the iPhone via Bluetooth.
    6. You should see a confirmation box of the transfer being in progress.

    Hi there RogerPayne877.

I am sorry to hear you are having trouble connecting your Samsung to Surface via Bluetooth and I'd like to help.  To clarify, when viewing devices in PC Settings, Surface recognizes the device, but lists it as offline, correct? Has it ever connected  to Surface or any other device for you? Have you had any issues connecting other Bluetooth devices with Surface?  Have you had a chance to check out the steps listed here, for connecting a Bluetooth device with Surface? Let us know!

Thank you in advance for following up and answering the many questions I have asked. I hope to have a solution for you soon.

    Kindest Regards.

I was trying to connect it via Bluetooth so that I may send over pictures, music, etc.

As far as the internet , I can just go to internet sharing on my phone and allow the surface to connect that way. I'm not sure what all the extra steps you mentioned above are for... is there a difference if I connect the way you are describing vs just through the internet sharing on my phone?

If you aren't able to use Bluetooth, you can use SkyDrive to make the files accessible. Also, looks like there is an app for the Surface too: http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/how-to/wp8/start/move-music-photos-and-videos-between-my-computer-and-my-phone

what kind of files? you can easily import photos by connecting the iPhone via

    USB to the surface.

    http://digitalmediaphile.com/index.php/2012/11/03/import-your-ipad-or-iphone-photos-to-surface/

as for anything else, you would need to be more specific. And I doubt bluetooth

    will work.

Can you send files from an iPhone to a Surface RT via bluetooth?  I can add an iPhone as a device (recognized as a phone with phone icon), but can't seem to use the device at all.
