I have the same issues. All Microsoft products, all failure. Surface Book 2, Surface (Microsoft) Bluetooth keyboard, Windows 10.
Bluetooth Surface Keyboard keeps disconnects from my surface book 2
Hi.
The last month, my surface keyboard (External bluetooth version), keeps loosing connection to my surface book 2, if i have been away from the office, or my Surface book 2 has been in standby..... (I have tried to change the batteries in the keyboard)
When it happens (Which is does many times a day), i have to delete the paired surface keyboard on the surface book.. wait about a minute, and the press the pair button on the keyboard, and pair it with my surface book again. Then i works undtil the nex time it has been in standby or i have been away from the office.... I have han the surface book and keyboard 7 months, and have never been a issue before a month ago. (I have tried to run e driver update, and the bluetooth repair, nothing helps.
They funny thing is, that i have a business partner in another company with the same setup as mine, he told med that he has the same issue with keyboard as i have....
Any ideas what our problem is, and are there other with the same issue???

2019-06-01T21:09:50+00:00 Add me to the list. EXACT same issues and HARDWARE. I have only used microsoft hardware. I don't see a microsoft response. Maybe we should stop using microsoft accessories.

2019-04-12T15:33:34+00:00 I have the same issue, with the same setup Bluetooth Microsoft keyboard and precision mouse. Both will stop responding multiple times a day. My keyboard will also ghost type. For instance, if I type "h" it will type "hhhhhhhhhhhhhhh." I've spent countless hours troubleshooting this, refreshing windows, updating drivers etc, nothing has worked.
I used a Logitech Bluetooth setup for about 6 months before I bought the Microsoft stuff and had no such issues.
Can we get some help here?

2020-08-26T00:03:19+00:00 I'm CONVINCED this was a driver issue all along - *at least for me.*My situation:
I have the Microsoft Surface Keyboard and Mouse. Paired with my Surface 4 Pro, I never, not once had an issue. For about 6 months, nothing.
I moved on from the Surface to a Dell XPS 13 2-in-1, and every now and then, the keyboard would disconnect. Not the mouse, not my headset, just the keyboard.
This drove me to formatting the laptop and starting fresh, which I was thinking of doing anyways as I'm not a fan of out of the factory setups.
It got worse!
I tried everything on this site and other sites, over and over... Eventually, and as Lynton Brown mentions in their post on August 4, 2020 - I noticed that if I just press the windows key and wait - it comes online. I got into the habit of pressing Caps Lock on the laptop keyboard so I knew when the Surface keyboard connected, as its light would also come on.
If I wasn't so busy at the moment, I was considering another format.
BUT THEN...
Windows updates came and went and shortly thereafter one of the many 'tools' I've installed during this venture popped up. "Laptop Firmware and Bluetooth Driver updates are available". I jumped on this, and it's worked!!! I don't know why it took a few months to get the driver - beta testing maybe?!
I'm hoping there's no eggs left to hatch, and my chicken count is good - but since this update, my keyboard hasn't disconnected once.
I've included hyperlinks to my products for clarity, and below are the drivers that updated. Hopefully this helps you in your quest for a constantly connected keyboard. It really shouldn't be this hard.
