How to create docked and undocked display profiles?

Howdy,

I have a Surface Pro, upgraded to 8.1.  I have a Surface dock with DVI adapter connected to external monitor.  I have it configured to only display to the external monitor while docked.

When undocked, I like to have the display settings set so that menus and dialogs are set to "Larger - 150%" size via the Display control panel's "Change the size of all items" option.

When I am docked the 150% size selection is a bit overwhelming, so I have to go into the display settings and change them, which forces me to log off to have the change take effect.

This is highly annoying as I need to dock and undock multiple times each day.

Is there some way to create a "docked" and an "undocked" profile that will will automatically switch?

Thanks,

Dan K.

Hi Dan K.,

As a fellow user of the docking station myself, I can see how this is an inconvenience for you, taking into consideration you dock and undock your Surface several times a day. However, at this moment, there isn’t a way to create such profiles.

I understand this is not the answer you were expecting, feedback and suggestion are always welcome. We truly hope you continue enjoying your Surface regardless.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to ask!

We are always here to help!

Best Wishes

I agree, there are other setting I like to use when docked but not when mobile, Cortana is one. When docked happy to have her there but when mobile she chews up the power so have to switch her off. Would be great to have a "docked profile" and un docked "profile" that switched over as you docked and undocked. - would not be that hard would it?

    Hi Mar T,

I must say, this is a rather poor response... and the fact there is still no Microsoft endorsed solution is just appalling. I will search for a third party solution, however, given the type of device this is - bridge the gap between laptop and tablet - you'd think that things like this would be supported out of the box. This is a major oversight given that many business users choose to use these devices and as you say "you dock and undock your Surface several times a day", how is changing this manually each time even a remotely acceptable solution?

    Very disappointed.

    Regards,

    Brad

Hi, is there any update to this as its causing a negative experience with VIP users within the business I am working for.

    Thanks

    Gareth
