Battery shows 100% charge but surface shuts down once its disconnected...

I've been having an issue lately with my surface pro 3 that renders it useless unless it's plugged in at all times.  The battery icon displays an active connection, 100% charge and the LED light on the charger itself is staying on at at all times (not flashing) but no matter what I do, the second that I disconnect the power supply, it shuts down and displays a low battery icon.  Any ideas how to fix this issue for a computer that's barely a year old?

    Same here. Loved my Surface Pro 3... until May 2016. That is when issue started. At first I'd go from 100% to low battery in <2 hours. Then it was within a few minutes... now it won't even last 1 minute.  Here is what I've tired with no success:

    * Cleaned the charger contacts.

    * Made sure the charger light was on.

    * Made sure I had all of the latest software updates: Settings>Updates&Security>Check for Updates

    * Installed latest Firmware updates (latest was Aug 1, 2016) and confirmed it successfully installed: Settings>Updates&Security>Update History

    * Restarted Surface Pro 3.

    * Shut down the Surface Pro  and then let it charge for over an hour. Turned it back on.

    * Did a Two-Button shutdown: With surface on... Hold power button for 30 seconds & release it. Hold down the power button & volume up button at same time for 15 seconds & release it.  Waited 30 seconds and then restarted Surface Pro 3.

    NOTHING has fixed the issue.  I have a Surface Pro 3 that can ONLY be used if it's plugged into the wall.  Kinda defeats the purpose of why I bought this machine.  Started in May and I'm sitting here in August with an unusable PORTABLE device!!

    When will MSFT have a fix?  Since I'm not the only one with this issue I'm NOT paying for a fix!!  My business will simply go elsewhere.

    Welcome to the club of the 1000s of people with SIMPLO battery issues. Here is the main thread:

    http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro3-surfhardware/surface-pro-3-battery-degradation/783f6a00-19ba-4dcf-a828-0ad87751e15a

    You should run a battery report. Heres how:

    The good news is Microsoft is aware of the issue. The bad news is the only thing we know right now is they are working on a fix but support will still charge $450 for a replacement.

    More proof of my problem.  I ran the battery report and this is what I got. I have the battery that everyone has been complaining about - SIMPLO.

    At 07:38:36... I was at 100% battery and I unplugged the charger

    At 07:38:50... I was at 90% battery capacity remaining

    At 07:38:52... I was at 6% battery capacity remaining.

    So my I can run on battery for SIXTEEN SECONDS.   Seriously?!
