I am talking about speed's processor. The Surface PRO 3 i7 processor seems with less performance than Surface PRO 3 i5 processor.
i7 2.3ghz versus i5 2.5ghz?
Is it more useful to have 15 2.5ghz rather than i7 with 2.3ghz?

2014-08-08T04:14:47+00:00 Well, I have the same question about the clock speed performance. The Surface Pro i5 has 2.5 GHz in the maximum speed clock, at the task manager, and the Surface Pro i7 has 2.3 GHz in the maximum speed clock. It doesn't make sense. Witch one does have a better performance Microsoft???

2014-08-08T09:31:28+00:00 comparing overall speed is usually pointless when looking at different models.
most of my computers have had roughly the same speed in GHz over the last 12 years or so. but they all had very different performance levels.

it doesn't look like you understood what I said.
you can't compare different processors based on processor speed. its an irrelevant comparison. it only matters when you compare different declinations of the SAME processor type.

2014-08-09T19:50:37+00:00 Speed is only relative to the same CPU series (i7 compared to i7). You cannot compare the i7 with an i5. It doesn't matter if they are "Haswell".
Take a look at the numbers you just posted. You just displayed that the i7 is far faster than the i5. As for Turbo Boost, that is only in the i5. It is automatic and only runs for a couple of seconds when needed. You never notice it is running.
The i7 will run rings around the i5. Mostly because of the "Cache Memory". I have the i5 and i7 "Haswells" in desktops. The i5 can be sluggish at times but normally runs good. The i7 is blazing fast running the exact same tasks.
The i7 will always be faster than the i5, i3, Pentium, etc. It is more robust and has more CPU cores to work with. The CPU, however, is not cheap. I scratch built my i5 and i7 desktops and the processor cost alone for the i7 was about the same as a laptop. The CPU for the i5 kit was less than $100.
If you want to go budget minded and it is not a slow machine, look at the i3 model. That is the Pro 3 I have and I am sitting here watching TV shows, movies, working with files, browsing the Internet while everybody else are having problems in overheating, getting on the Internet, etc. I did have an overheating problem when trying out two old games. There may be a fix coming for that, so, if you are looking at gaming (no matter what model), don't count on the Pro 3 just yet.
Always remember in the future to compare an i7 with an i7, i5 with an i5. That is what the clock speed is relative to. My i3 which is barely over 1GHz will run rings around a Pentium 3.2GHz CPU. So, you see, there is no comparison.
If you can, find a store that may have them on display and see if you can try them out. Best Buy usually has floor demos you can play around with. You may also get a chance to try out the pen as well.
