Method 2: Remove the battery driver first and install updates.
- Plug in your Surface.
- Swipe in from the right edge of the screen and tap or click Search.
- In the search box, enter device manager, and in the search results, tap or click Device Manager.
- Tap or click the arrow next to the Batteries category.
- Double-tap Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, tap or click the Driver tab, and tap or click Uninstall > OK.
(If you’re using a mouse, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery and click Uninstall.) 6. Leave your Surface plugged in.
Method 3: Restart your Surface

Method 4: If all available updates have installed, shut down (not restart) your Surface again and charge it for a few minutes.
Method 5: Two-button shutdown.
- Press and hold the power button on your Surface for 30 seconds and then release it.
- Press and hold the volume-up button and the power button at the same time for at least 15 seconds and then release both.
