USB-C to HDMI not working on Surface Book 2

My Surface Book 2 won't output to a TV with any USB-C to HDMI adapters that I have used. I have several adapters from Accell (P/N: U187B-005B) that all work with other devices, and I have tried multiple HDMI cables and TV's/monitors. I was able to do USB-C to display port on one of the Dell P2715Q on my test bench, but it wouldn't work on the other one right next to it. The Samsung TV that I tried hooking up to would act like it would detect an HDMI source, but it would rapidly come and go and never display anything. I can use the surface docking station and a Mini-DP to HDMI adapter to connect, but that is far from ideal.

The Surface I am using has a multiple boot setup. One boot is Windows 10 1607 on an encrypted partition, the other is Windows 10 1803 and is not encrypted. I've tried using both boot environments and neither works.

Has anyone else used Accell adapters with a Surface Book 2? I'm starting to think I might have a faulty USB-C port.

    Dear MichaelLewis

Surface Book 2 supports 4k @ 60fps over usb c if the dock is not connected. Sounds like an adapter issue as usb c to dp still works like you said.

I have no experience with that specific brand. Try another usb c to hdmi adapter? I understand Microsoft's own works well.

I haven't had any trouble with Accell adapters before. I have 50-60 (literally) on a shelf at work of various connectors made by Accell. I've used 3 different adapters on my SB2 and tried the same ones on other computers (Intel NUC7i7 and Dell Latitude 5175) and they work just fine. And the USB-C to DP only worked on one monitor with my SB2.

I'll order a Microsoft adapter and test it, though.

Majority of the testing was done without the dock. I connected the dock to see if it was able to output to HDMI, which it was. I did not try the USB-C to HDMI with the dock connected because I would never use it that way. The dock isn't all that portable.

I tested with Samsung and LG 4k TV's (Don't have model numbers handy). Monitors are Dell P2715Q. USB-C to HDMI doesn't work on any of these displays. USB-C to Display Port works on one of the Dell monitors.

    Dear MichaelLewis

I understand you're having variable results connecting your SB2 to a Hdmi monitor via USB C.

May I know if you're doing this while the Surface Dock is connected?

And can I check what is the model name/number of the specific monitors you are attempting to use?
