Please help to resolve this as soon as possible.

The bad Microsoft publicity is going to make the surface outdated as much as Nokia.

Here is the problem;

Keyboard type cover has stopped working suddenly after an update.

I have tried the following:

Cleaning the connector ports with alcohol

Reboot

Refresh

Reset

Vol up reset

Update drivers

I noticed that the driver is totally missing and all the above still did not managed to driver back to this surface pro 3 device

Surface pro type cover filter device

I hope Microsoft update has not caused any hardware device failures.

Pls advice how I bring this driver back to my SP3.

My keyboard works on other sp4 device fyi.

Had bought a cover type keyboard for my Surface Pro 3. After connecting to surface pro, there is no light.

    Read and research the fixes available but these solutions are not working for me;

    1. Power and Vol. up buttons pressed concurrently to reboot UEFI. Even tried Force shut down, does not work either.

    1. Download all updates of the latest firmware and driver from MS Online for Surface Pro 3.

    1. Reset and Recover (without deleting the personal data), but there is no Driver to begin with, hence Reset is of no use.

    1. Install and run the Surface  Diagnostic Toolkit has no issues found too.

    1. Managed to find a driver (copy from my friend's Pro 3) but unable to load the driver:
    • Device Manager unable to detech the type cover Keyboard, so the option to load from Manual to update is unavailable.
    • Add the drivers and folders under same directory as my friend's Pro 3, still unable to work.

    - In Device Manager, there is neither other devices nor unrecognised devices shown, hence unable to update the driver for unknown device!

    • In Device Manager, tried to install legacy devices, using the driver also not able to work too.

I tried using this Surface Type Cover Keyboard on my friend's Pro 3 and it automatically works!

The only different is that his Device Manager has a Type Cover Filter Device under the Keyboard.

Hence my numerous attempts to install the driver for Type Cover Keyboard but to no avail.

(Above attempts are when the Surface Type cover keyboard is attached)

I think 1 to 4 will works if there is a existing driver in the device manager; using these steps to update/repair it.

Please help! If anyone out there know to fix or resolve this! Frustrated!

Trust me its not hardware failure.

    Its Microsoft drivers issue.

they have tampered with the updates and knocked the drivers out.

Well known, just check out websites from around the world.

.... Let me know if you happen to get it to work.  Maybe have a priest bless or do an exorcism to it.

I got it working in the end , kind of anyway .... I had to do the battery drain to get it to function again , a link here on how to do it - you have to drain it down so that it cannot function anymore , at initial startup you should see the white battery low icon , now attach the cover and plug in the charger.

    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/surface/forum/surfpro3-surfupdate/surface-pro-3-keyboard-not-working/78999122-d298-4c59-b3c4-9de5a0a432db#LastReply

After that it worked , but just this week i turned it on and again , the Type cover was not recognised , no drivers , not showing in devices ... nothing. So i started to go through the whole thing again ... drain the battery down , it was showing 7 hours battery life left with nothing running .. so i fired up a video editing program to try and tire it out ... well , i left it doing stuff and then suddenly out of the corner of my eye i see the type cover light up !

    completely random , i hadn't done anything ... just happened .... weird !

so although it is working it is still completely unreliable , if i was working and this happened , i would have to wait to drain that thing right down .... which can take hours !

So , Definitely a ghost in the machine , perhaps an exorcism might work !

Try the battery drain and see if that helps , it works for some , but not for others

I have tried to do everything you suggested

The "Surface Firmware Tool" wizard offers 3 alternatives namely

Change - blocked out as no options available

Repair - This said the tool was already installed and did nothing - not surprising as I had tried to update firmware previously as part of the previous attempts to solve problem

Remove - Carried out this action and started again - restarting each time between installs etc

Surface Firmware Tool.msi - no change

Tried Wintab_x64_1.0,0,20.zip which is supposed to allow to select features etc but

Modify only offers "Default Features" -when actioned - no effect

Repair - speeds through a check - no effect

Remove - just removes the program

In response to your request about my Surface device I believe it is identical but for certainty I confirm it is a
