Suddenly today my Surface Pro's wifi has stopped working. It was working fine last night. I cant connect to any network. When I click on the network icon.the right side of the screen says "No connections are available.", I can see the little network icon with a red cross.
I cannot connect to the internet or ping my router. I have tried rebooting, rolling back drivers, rebooting again, updating drivers from a USB stick, rebooting again, disabling the wifi adapter, re enabling it, rebooting again, disabling the firewall. (i tried win 8 & win 8.1 wifi drivers) No change. Still the exact same symptoms. Every other device in the house is connecting fine. Please help! I have literally changed absolutely nothing on my Surface. What is causing this?!
also i cant turn on Bluetooth also. when i turn on, it will automatically turn off again.
note: previously also i got "No connections are available." massage. but after a restart wifi work again normally. im running windows 8.1 currently.
Hi,
I've got the exact same issue where it would lose connection every once in a while when it sleeps. All I would have to do is restart my computer and it would work. Today it just decided to stop and the restart did nothing. I've had all my updates and I've tried multiple networks were it use to work. I tried the solution below and it seems to be working for now until someone can issue a patch. Found it on another message board:
Lets go ahead and uninstall the WiFi driver. To do this, follow the steps below:
- Go to the Desktop
- Swipe from the right
- Touch Settings
- Touch Control Panel
- Open Device Manager
- Open the dropdown for Network Adapters
- Right click on Marvell Avastar
- Click on Uninstall
- Ensure the box is not checked, as we do not want to delete the driver
- Click on OK to uninstall the driver.
- Restart your Surface. During the Restart, Windows will find that the driver is missing and reinstall it for you.
I hope this works for you as well!
