How do I get HBO Go to work on my new Surface?

Using this previously asked question as a reference, I added HBO GO and my service provider to the trusted sites list, but it won't stay signed on to my account- it acts like I didn't attempt to sign in at all- and therefore I can't access any of the content.

I am very confused and would very much like to access my HBO on my Surface if there are any suggestions or reasons I can't use HBO Go. I've been reading that this may be an Internet Explorer problem???

(I chose a Surface over an iPad for several reasons, don't let me down now.)

If anybody has been watching HBO GO on a Surface RT or Surface 2, that had to be an accident.

HBO GO feeds their content to an app designed for the mobile device.  The HBO did not make an app for Surface RT/Surface 2 (ARM based) tablets.

If you want to watch HBO GO on the tablet, you have to contact HBO and ask them to make a Metro UI app.  They are the ones who provide the video feed, not Microsoft.

HBOGO doesn't control the login, it hands it off to your service provider. Try going directly to your provider's site and logging in. If you can login and view content there check to see if they have a direct link to HBO, if not try logging in to HBOGO in a new tab while still logged into your provider's site.

It took a few tries for me to get logged in to Suddenlink, you might also try from the desktop version of IE.

If you can't login and watch content on your provider's site then at least you've narrowed down the problem and can work from there.

    Hello Sarah,

Sorry the troubles. I'm happy to assist you with this problem.  The Surface RT  runs with a Windows RT or RT 8.1 OS which comes with a built in Flash Player. This built in version of Flash updates only through Windows updates. Windows RT or RT 8.1  won't let you update Flash to the highest version in your own. So if  you accessing content that requires a higher version of Flash, it won't let you do. I'll suggest contacting the HOB Go support for more details.

If you have other questions let us know.

Forum mod - Your reply is techno babble. We don't care WHY we can't get HBO GO, We care about how to get it if possible, or if not possible, when Microsoft intends to something about it. Seems like just another case where Microsoft will not do the needful to support surface in a competitive manner
