I am planning to buy a Surface Go. Is it possible to use the type cover of my old Surface RT with the Surface Go?

    Hi Ricardo,

Hi I’m Linnell I'm a fellow Community member here to help.

Surface Go Signature Type Cover fits Surface Go. This is the only Type cover that is compatible with Surface Go.

Type Cover is an exact size match for Surface RT, Surface 2, Surface Pro, and Surface Pro 2.

I hope this helps. Please feel free to ask questions and let us know how it goes.

    Regards

    Linnell

As a professional user I just can't use Apple products due to their basically being toys that are so much hassle to do anything on, so have always been a firm supporter of MS products.

Unfortunately this has gotten me burnt one time to many. I bought Surface RT, MS killed it off. I bought Windows Phone, MS killed it off.

So here I am wanting a Surface Go for a specific task that no Android of Apple device can perform. 90% of the time it would be used as a tablet but would be nice to have the option of a keyboard when at my desk for that other 5-10% of the time.

Because I have a Surface RT which is effectively a brick (thankyou MS) I do have one of its touch type covers. Now if I was able to connect and use this older RT keyboard when at my desk, I would be buying a Surface Go right now. Yes it would be too big to use as a cover, but if it physically worked as a keyboard on my desk that would be great and I would get some value back from the shafting I got with buying into RT.

Online chat advisor says "no" but they went through the marketing script how they created a cover especially for blah blah ZZzzZzz.

So will the old RT keyboard "work" on the Surface Go? If not then I won't be buying as fool me once shame on me rules apply. I am not spending hundreds of pounds on accessories for another potential White Elephant. MS needs to start supporting their loyal users and being able to use accessories from devices they prematurely killed off would be a start.

    Dear Button2000

No, the touch cover will not work on the Surface Go, because they require different connectors, and do not have an alternative wireless mode.

Having used Windows touchscreen devices since the days of the Asus EEE slate, I agree the Surface family of devices had a pretty rough start. They have come a long way since then and I urge you to at least check out the devices with their new keyboards in person.
